Magreth Joseph Ngeleja, an 18-year-old orphan, lost her father at the age of 10, leaving her mother widowed with five children, where Magreth is the eldest. After rejecting Sukuma cultural practices that required her to marry her late husband's relative, Magreth’s mother was disowned by her in-laws, forcing the family to leave their home. Returning to Dar es Salaam, the family faced homelessness, with Magreth and her siblings dropping out of school to support their mother through menial jobs. Despite these challenges, Magreth’s determination to return to school caught the attention of GH Foundation. The foundation, with support from the Sadaka Yetu Group, secured housing for the family and re-enrolled Magreth at Twiga Secondary School. When poor learning conditions and home responsibilities impacted her performance, GH Foundation transferred Magreth to Rosmin Secondary School, a reputable boarding school in Tanga, on a full scholarship. With this support, her academic performance flourished, culminating in her Form Four success with a Division One grade. She is now excelling in Form Five, studying Economics, Commerce, and Accountancy, aspiring to become an auditor. GH Foundation is proud to support Magreth’s journey, showcasing its mission to empower vulnerable individuals and inspire hope through education and equality.
